Challenges With Laptop Wireless InternetWhen we first got our wireless network set up in our home, I did not know that anyone could access it with or without our permission. Needless to say, once I found out, I put a stop to that! With laptop wireless Internet, it is the same. You want to have safeguards in place to prevent someone nearby from piggybacking onto your wireless broadband service. With a home wireless network, you have the freedom of one central hub into which all computers used in the home can access, whether laptops or desktop computers. I prefer using my laptop wireless Internet connection, of course. If you have a cable modem, you have access to broadband Internet connections. Now, if you want to translate that to wifi, you are looking at utilizing a cellular wireless card or modem. And yes, broadband is available for those who wish it. My main challenge with my home wireless network is being too far away from the hub. I haven't actually tried using my laptop wireless Internet when I'm out in my yard or halfway down the street, but if it's anything like my portable phones, I could possibly tap into my home network from as far as across the street and still get online. So, what are the main challenges with laptop wireless Internet? Your home network can be compromised if you have failed to adequately protect it by installing a network key or code. Only those computers with the proper network key will be able to tap that network, so be sure to cover your back door! As with anything that transmits a signal, wifi is limited in range, so another challenge is being too far away from the base transmitter or hub from which the wireless signal is being sent. When you hear the phrase 'wifi hot spot', you know that this means you have found a clear, strong signal that you can access your laptop wireless Internet. Finally, the biggest challenge with anything wireless is the availability. My least favorite phrase in terms of laptop wireless Internet networks is "May not be available in your area." How frustrating that is! And how rapidly we get spoiled by technology. When I visited Missouri recently, I was appalled to learn that I couldn't access the Internet from my motel room, and even more appalled to learn that wifi was unavailable anywhere in the vicinity! I had to go to a main library branch before I could find a wifi network. Contact Terms Of Use Privacy Policy And Terms Of Use Laptop Wireless Internet |
